Horse Drawn Nightmare!!!

this picture really upsets me :(

I just saw a news report that in NYC a family that was visiting Central Park took a horse carriage ride(mistake) and the horse collapsed twice!!!  I am a huge animal lover and carriage rides are so barbaric.  Horses are one of my favorite animals, my 2011 calendar is all about horses, their skulls are amazing!
These carriage workers/owners in NYC and other cities need to come up with an alternative because these beautiful animals do not need to be hauling people around.
I fucking hate the mistreatment of animals.  It pisses me off so much.  Animals are voiceless, they are compliant, and they do not deserve this! It is time for one of my famous write-letter-campaign-until-someone-answers-back campaigns!!!

NYC is a very progressive city.  They are marrying gays; now free the horses!!!

THIS IS FORCED LABOR - MODERN DAY SLAVERY!
That's right I went there.

FREE TILLY SEAWORLD

I unfortunately could not go and protest outside Sea World because of prior commitments.  I read this great post and picture from JNonymous; who says everything that needs to be said perfectly:

Imagine being constrained to the walls of your empty room for the rest of your life…when you should be out exploring the world. You would go crazy too. I understand his chances of survival are slim, but at least he would be free! I’d take the risk, without a second thought. I imagine Sea World doesn’t want to take the risk because it will cost $$$. Not only to transport him back to the ocean, but then to adapt him back to the wild, then to replace him. But if they really truly cared about these animals, they wouldn’t cage them up. Set him free!

A few interesting killer whale facts:

- Killer whales are capable of swimming 100 miles in a day.

- Tilikum is the largest Orca in captivity, measuring 22ft 6in long, weighing somewhere around 12,500 lbs.

- The life expectancy of a killer whale in the wild is 50 – 60 years for males, and up to 90 years for females, however, killer whales in captivity live less than 30 years.

- Wikipedia quotes: ‘Wild killer whales are not considered a threat to humans, although there have been cases of captive killer whales attacking their handlers at marine theme parks.’ Interesting.

Some more interesting facts & details can be found at the Whale & Dolphin Conservation Society

Check out this great article by Ric O’Barry from The Cove, expressing his thoughts on Tilly and Sea World…

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
I cannot put into words how happy I am right now.  Nick has made my day with this email.  I am totally cheesing, this day is a win for animals and humans alike.
Pete Grinnell has compassion in his heart and common sense in his head.

Rawr: Friend to Tigers and Humans Alike

Yesterday I went to pick up my mother's Jeep from service at Napleton / Kissimmee
and saw this ad:

I am not happy with the LIVE Tiger at the event.  I e-mailed the organization who is promoting it, Orlando Jeep Club, and will be calling the manager at Napleton to take down the flyers and cease the promotion of animal cruelty.

_____

Here is my email:

I sent it to the social director, president and anyone who is on the contact us page.  This is a very serious issue, and they need to realize how determined I am.  Animal oppression, animal rights and animal welfare is something I feel strong about - compassion is not an option but a necessity.

_____

Please tell Orlando Jeep Club that animals are not for our entertainment.
Please tell Napleton Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge that promoting this is cruel.

Fashion Week Heroes

I love fashion.  The looks, cuts, colors, imagination and the ladies ;)
What I abhor: FUR, LEATHER, SILK, SKIN, SUEDE

Animal cruelty is such a serious issue that goes overlooked.  I do not approve of killing animals for their pelt so a jacket can have a little fancy trim - FAUX carries the same effect.  I object to the killing of animals for their meat - there are alternatives.  Every being has the right to live their life as they please.

If you love fur watch how it is made; not some bullshit tummy friendly video. Watch how animals have their fur ripped from their bodies while they are still alive and thrown onto a pile only to bleed to death.  If it doesn't turn your stomach, bring tears to your eyes, or make you question humanity - you are a sociopatch and please stay away from me.

I get daily updates from A Shaded View on Fashion and that is what tipped me off on these Heroes on the Catwalk:

November is the cruelest month

The Turkey Holocaust is upon us. As a vegetarian this is the saddest day of the year.

I am thankful for so much in my life.  This fragile existence we live is what it is: a series of passing moments strung together by emotions. Being respectful towards all living things shouldn’t be a pipe dream.

My wish for everyone today:
A little tofurky, a lot of sides, and some pie...A meatless Thanksgiving for all!!!!

Live compassionately.

Lions and Lions and Lions - OH MY!

I saw on the telly video of lions mauling their trainer.  Circuseses are the death camps of the animal kingdom. I am glad that animals are attacking - they belong in the wild somewhere doing lion things like mating killing heinas or whatever they do.
May all animal trainers who do not see the light be mauled, scalped, burned or any other horrible acts.  I've seen videos of what happens at circus while training and the way they live...It's unforgiveable!
I cannot embedd the video - My imagination made this my rendering of what happened

The End...
