Joie De Vivre

Encapsulating all the dark glamour, divine decadence and hedonistic joy of the roaring Twenties, Gareth Pugh's A/W 2010 collection is a stylised, silver and black Art Deco fantasy projected at breakneck speed into the twenty-first century.

Stay Cool

I came accross this towel I think this would be fabulous for Bonnaroo 2011.  Priced between $12 and $22 on Amazon

From the site:

Made from a hyper-evaporative material that retains water while remaining dry to the touch, The Chilly Pad® is an innovative way to cool down while enduring outdoor heat and/or high levels of physical activity. When wet, the towel begins to evaporate and cool, providing cool, soft comfort to the user. When it stops cooling, simply re-wet the towel in hot or cold water and wring it out. Within minutes, it’s cool again.

The environmentally conscious chic resort Soneva Kiri.  To visit you must first get to Bangkok, Thailand where you are greeted and wisked away by the resort's awaiting private plane. Unwind and reflect in this secluded paradise.  Lets go!

This weekend Beirut played at the Guggenheim - a wonderful blend of ARCHITECTURE and MUSIC.
These pictures only show a fraction of the space. The use of it as a concert venue adds a new element to the building.

Argentina legalizes gay marriage

By Andres D'Alessandro and Tracy Wilkinson, Los Angeles Times

July 16, 2010

"Argentina becomes the first nation in Latin America to legalize gay marriage, despite staunch opposition from the influential Catholic Church. The law is expected to be signed soon by the president."

For the Visuals: Urban Design

The Culture Shed is a new "breed of cultural site — a kind of combination museum and rental exhibition space, which would be self-supporting."

Super!  I cannot wait to see the finished product.  My hands hurt just looking at the details on that model.  Those openings are going to cast shadows and change the look of the site throughout the day.  I love experimenting with shadows - the sun is a wonderful ally!

Color me interested

Just found this site:

Color Matters

It is all about color and how it affects: mood, art, appetite, etc.  An absolute must steal!!!

Here are some ripped from the website tantalizing facts:

"... yellow is an eye irritant. Babies cry more in yellow rooms, husbands and wives fight more in yellow kitchens, and opera singers throw more tantrums in yellow dressing rooms..."

"Of all the colors in the spectrum, blue is an appetite suppressant. Weight loss plans suggest putting your food on a blue plate. Or even better than that, put a blue light in your refrigerator and watch your munchies disappear....."

NO PROSPECT park

Shame on you humanity:  killing geese for being geese.  There are so many things we do at the expense of animal life and the environment without thinking twice.  We are disgusting.

California Dreaming: Revealing art

I've never been to California - but I miss it!  It's an odd feeling.  Here's a happening that i'm missing out because I live somewhere south of nowhere.  It brings all my favorite things together: NUDITY and ART

From the gallery's site:

“Porn in the USA” features Jonathan Yeo's newest and most provocative works to date, including some surprising new portraits, and a version of his controversial wallpaper design unveiled recently at the new Soho House club in West Hollywood.

Immortalizing the individual in monumental proportions is what these exciting artists do best. Using the overlooked, misunderstood and mundane elements of our everyday, each artist captures our attention with their distinctive style and alternative approach. Sharing a vested interest in their individual and collective surroundings and society, they poetically express a desire for universal appreciation."

I'm jealous.  I totally wanna be there.  I wish I had money like that to jump on a plane for an art exhibition.
